  3. Apply at the official state site for the program you need (food/SNAP, WIC, TANF cash aid, LIHEAP energy, unemployment, etc.)

What: LSC-funded legal aid + Lawhelp.org info/forms by state.
Use it: Search by city/ZIP for a local nonprofit law office.

Housing counseling (Help in understanding your options)

What: Free/low-cost help with renting, budgeting, foreclosure/eviction prevention.
Use it: Find a HUD-approved counselor or call 800-569-4287.

Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) / vouchers

What: Local offices that run public housing and Housing Choice Vouchers.
Use it: Look up your local PHA; try HUD’s Resource Locator.
